Congratulations!!!!!
To all those that certified at our Kuda Workshop on August 3, 2008, at
the Holiday Inn, Rosemont, IL. We couldn't have asked for a better
group of sharpeners. The Workshop seems to attract as many new
sharpeners as experienced. This mix, is the perfect recipe for some
great discussions. The limited size of the Workshops, allows us to
encourage open participation, during the scheduled events. The result
is a very relaxed atmosphere, with absolutely no bad attitudes. One
underlying theme at the Kuda Workshops is, and always will be, the
importance of having an "open mind". Nothing is more pleasing to us,
then to look around the room during the Kuda "Hands On" segment,
and see sharpeners from all backgrounds, and different sharpening
machines, helping and sharing techniques with each other. We have
been so pleased by the attendee's and their willingness to share, as
well as learn, and we thank you for that!
For a special treat, we also watched an incredible video tour through a
world renowned scissor factory. With the help of Randy Ferman from
Shark Fin Shears narrating the video, it became clear that a lot of
expertise & time is involved in producing a scissor. Many of us just
think it's two pieces of metal put together. But, it's a work of art. It's a
very long, tedious, dirty, sweaty procedure. It blew away any myths we
may have had about ride, set, honing etc.
A special thanks to Tony Triolo from Nina, Inc, Randy Ferman from Shark
Fin Shears & Bob & Linda Schiessl from Nebraska Blades. Without their
support and participation, the Kuda workshop would not have been as
successful.
I want to also thank my Kuda staff, Tom Kinne, Len DiCarro, Barb Kinne,
Michele Pietrzak & Aliyah Moore for all their help & patients organizing
an incredible event.
To all those that certified, GREAT JOB! You should be proud of your
accomplishments.
